Philippe is a well known cytologist, with vast experience in Europe but also globally.

He will take over from Professor Michael Sheaff when he steps down at the end of this year. The two will work closely during the handover period.

Philippe, who works at the American Hospital in Paris and is Professor of Pathology (University of Porto School of Medicine) has been previous President of the French Society of Clinical Cytology, President of the European Federation of Cytology Societies (EFCS) and President of the International Academy of Cytology (IAC). He has a keen interest in diagnostic cytology, and has published extensively.

Philippe says “I look forward to working with the BAC and the team at Cytopathology. I hope to carry on the great work done by Professor Sheaff and further develop Cytopathology as a major scientific and educational journal.”

Cytopathology is the official journal of the BAC, with the most recent impact factor of 1.493, up on that for 2018.

The BAC would like to thank Professor Sheaff for all his hard work and the development of Cytopathology over his term as Editor in Chief.
